HOW TO BUY CHEAP LAPTOP ON BUDGET

Buying a Laptop on a Budget

Look for laptop savings locally and on the Web.
Buying a laptop on a budget takes some planning. Before you start looking, scope out a realistic budget range, starting with the worst-case bottom price and ending with your realistic can't-exceed ceiling. Jot down a list of the software you'll need to run, and check each application's requirements as you compile a feature set that represents your rock-bottom performance needs.

  1. Limit Your Options

    • Take a hard look at exactly what you'll use this laptop for, and match your needs to the bottom end of your specifications. For example, choose a smaller screen if you won't need to open wide spreadsheets or view panoramic images, or opt for a slower processor if you'll only use word-processing software. Plan your purchase to minimize the extras you'll need to buy -- extra RAM, for example -- and figure any necessary add-ons into your budget. Inexpensive netbooks make good sidekicks for full-sized computers, although they typically lack the optical drives you'll need for software installation from CDs and DVDs, and don't offer the performance of an entry-level notebook.

    Buy Refurbished

    • Many computer manufacturers offer refurbished devices at sizable discounts. These typically represent consumer returns that undergo thorough testing, with replacement parts installed where any defects show up. You'll receive a manufacturer's warranty with these units, although the warranty term may differ from the coverage offered on new systems. Some refurbished units are current models, whereas others lag at least one hardware generation behind. Don't expect a broad selection.

    Choose Store Demos

    • You can sometimes score a good deal on a floor demo when you visit a local retailer and look for display units placed on sale when new models come out. Check these units carefully for signs that they've been pounded on by kids and careless adults, and ask for verification of warranty coverage in writing. If you can't make sure everything works while you're still in the store, either walk away and find a better deal, or clarify your return privileges before you buy.

    Student/Teacher Discounts

    • Whether you're in college or teaching school, your current ID card can entitle you to educational discounts on computer hardware and special-edition software. Many computer manufacturers offer direct discounts when you furnish them with a copy of your school ID. Some schools sell systems in their bookstores and offer the discount at the checkout counter. School staff members also qualify for price breaks, as do parents of students. A California-based not-for-profit, Student Discount Laptops, offers new and refurbished computers for high school and college students across the United States.

    Military Discounts

    • Active-duty military personnel and reservists with on-base access can qualify for special pricing at their Post Exchange, or PX. Don't expect the range of options you'd find in a warehouse-style retail store or on an Internet merchant site. You'll be limited to the models in stock, but you'll be able to buy at a discount without waiting for delivery. You can also obtain military discounts directly from computer manufacturers.

ARE YOU AFRAID OF WHAT YOUR TOMMORROW MAY BECOME ? TURN TO GOD

July 4                                            Ps 119

Topic:Dilemma
Text: I John 4:7-14

Today, the people of the world are anchored to the horn of a dilemma. They live in fear because they dwell in darkness and lack the knowledge of the truth that sets free. According to our text, we are different from the people of the world. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. The love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts therefore fear has vanished. Love overcomes fear. Fear simply means the dread of the kingdom or darkness. Since the light of the gospel has made a great difference in us, fear has lost its grip over our lives. If you are a true child of God, you will be a stranger to fear. If you and I are as pure as light, not only shall we overcome the forces of darkness, we will actually become a threat to them.
Today, the entire world, with the exception of a few Christian, is living in terror. People all over the globe are afraid of Satan and his host of followers: witches, wizards and demons. People also fear because of the threat of economic disaster, terrorist attacks, nuclear war, global warning etc, because they are uncertain of what tomorrow may bring. They have no assurance of security and stability. If you are a true child of God this must not be your lot. Do not entertain fear.
To the Christian, fear should be a strange phenomenon indeed. When we hear of people being afraid, we should be so much at ease in our Lord that we should wonder why anyone should fear anything. After all, the cause of all threats to peace and order is the devil. The devil is under our feet. If Satan is already a defeated foe, and if we have total victory and dominion over him through Jesus Christ our Lord, then why should we fear? Satan is no menace to those who are in Christ Jesus. We are not his slaves; he is ours. We have received power and authority from the Lord to deal with the devil as we wish.

Memory Verse: I John 4:18 - “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

YOU CAN BE OUTSTANDING IF YOU DESIRE TO BE

July 3                                                                  Ps 115 - 118

Topic:Outstanding Breakthrough

Text: Genesis 22:15-18

You can have an outstanding breakthrough. You may have received some miracle already. However, I want to know that, in spite of what God has already done for you, you can still move into the realm of outstanding breakthroughs.

To understand what it means to experience an outstanding breakthrough, it is important to take a look at scriptural illustrations and teaching on the subject. Therefore, let us examine some Bible characters, who had great breakthroughs. The God of breakthroughs introduced Himself in Exodus 3:15 as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He called Himself the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob because they all had breakthroughs. Abraham was 95 years old before he had his major breakthroughs. He met with the God of breakthroughs and the promises of God were fulfilled in his life. Genesis 22:18 give us the kernel of Abraham’s breakthrough: “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.” Isaac also had a great breakthrough. There was a great famine in the land but, while others were suffering, Isaac was prospering. He prospered so much that a whole nation envied him. Isaac had a great breakthrough because he was linked with Abraham who had a breakthrough.

Those who have great breakthroughs are always linked with people who had great breakthroughs. If you are linked with a man of God or a believer who has a breakthrough, you too will have a breakthrough. God said he would bless Abraham whereas he promised to multiply Isaac until he would become like the stars of the heavens and the sand by the seashore. He said Isaac, being one of the seeds of Abraham, would possess the gates of his enemies and, through him, the nations of the earth would be blessed. Genesis 26:13-14 tells us more about Isaac: “And the men waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.” Do you know that your own breakthrough can surpass that of your leader ?

Memory Verse: Psalms 126:1 - “When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”

THERE'S HOPE FOR YOU

July 2 2012                                                     Ps  112 - 114

Topic: God’s Purpose

Text: Luke 1:1-27

Our text presents the story of two wonderful people: Zechariah and Elizabeth. The Bible tells us that they were blameless before God. They were serving the Lord with all their hearts yet they were barren. Many people must have laughed at them. People around them must have thought that they were singled out for barrenness, whereas God singled them out for something special. God wanted them to bring forth the greatest child born in the Old Testament: John the Baptist. Jesus said that of all born by women in the Old Testament; none was as great as John the Baptist. I want you to look away from your present situation.

People may label you negatively, don’t worry. The outcome is in the able hands of God. What is viewed by the people of the world as a minus will soon become an instrument of divine promotion in your life. Although there seems to be a delay today, God is surely using it to prepare you for something great. Although Elizabeth was previously seen as a barren woman, by the time God granted her a miracle, she became the esteemed mother of the greatest prophet in the Old Testament dispensation. Delay is not denial. By the time God is through with you the attention of everyone will be shifted to you. At the end of the day your testimony will be unique and challenging.

Memory Verse: II Corinthians 10:2 - “But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.”

How Pocket-Size Computers Will Finally Overcome Small Screens and Tiny Keyboards

Today, a 4-inch-long smartphone holds as much processing power as a desktop PC from five years ago—or a warehouse-bound computer from just a few decades prior. But Moore's law moves far faster than evolution, and no matter how small processors and memory chips shrink, human hands remain the same size. Even if pocket-size computers are technologically capable of serving as our primary go-anywhere PC, their tiny keyboards and small screens present ergonomic problems. Thumbing out a short e-mail on a Blackberry or iPhone may be easy, but try writing a dissertation or creating a CAD model.
So how are engineers squaring the increasing power (and omnipresence) of mobile computers with this ergonomic challenge? To find out, we spoke to engineers at Intel, the dominant computer processor manufacturer. They think they have the solution, and they're calling it Dynamic Composable Computing.

Intel hopes that in the near future, our pocket-size computers will be able to wirelessly connect to any nearby peripheral. Enter a room with a 50-inch plasma TV and it becomes an ad hoc monitor for your pocket-bound PC. Sit down next to a full-size keyboard, and you'll be able to use it to start typing away.

In order for Dynamic Composable Computing to work, the connected computers and peripherals will need to have a series of wireless standards—either built-in or given to them through some sort of accessory. Users will be able to select which components they want to use, much the same way they select Wi-Fi networks today: by scanning for available connections and offering drop-down menus for selection. The exact wireless standards aren't yet determined, but it will likely be a combination of protocols—some of which probably don't even exist yet.

And Dynamic Composable Computing could easily extend beyond the use of displays and peripherals. Intel predicts a future when mobile computers will be able to borrow processing power from nearby computers. A sort of short-range ad-hoc version of cloud computing. "When you walk into Starbucks, you won't just be able to use their Wi-Fi, you'll be able to use their processors," says Roy Want, senior principal engineer at Intel Research. Your pocket-size primary computer would become little more than a vessel for a user profile and key documents, scalable in scope and power to whatever is around you. "You'll be able to create a sort of logical computer with all the tech around you," Want says.
But having so many possible adjunct peripherals and processors creates a problem. If you enter a room with a large number of displays, input devices and peripherals, there can be a staggering number of possible configurations—different ones of which might be ideal for different tasks. To sort through this, the process will likely involve the ability to create configurations that are pre-saved for easy retrieval. For example, a "Movie Editing" composition could include your most powerful processor and graphics card, while an "E-mail" configuration could add little to your pocket computer other than a monitor and keyboard.
For the past couple of years, Intel has been pushing pocket-size mobile internet devices, as they call them. These tiny computers, which are usually powered by the low-powered Atom processer, are typically larger than a smartphone, but smaller than a netbook (and without their requisite keyboard). It struck a lot of observers as curious why anybody would need a computer to fit this niche. Dynamic Composable Computing could be the key. After all, a pocketable keyboardless computer that can run laps around your smartphone becomes a lot more useful when it can be paired with the peripherals around you.

TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT LAYING OF HANDS. By Pastor E. A Adeboye

July 1                                          1 Chron 1 - 3

LAYING OF HANDS

MEMORISE: ‘Wherefore, I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.’ (2 Tim 1:6)
READ: Matthew 19: 13-15
After Elisha took ill, the king visited him on his sick bed. He wept because he knew that the real defender of Isreal, besides God, was Elisha so he came to give honour to whom honour was due. He valued Elisha so much that he called him ‘father’. Every one of us needs a spiritual father – those ministers who are founders of churches and ministries, but who are not responsible to anyone, face serious dangers as they will come face to face with Satan without any backing. When the king came to meet Elisha, the prophet asked him to shoot the arrows. Joining hands symbolizes partnership. In this case there was a partnership between a prophet and a king. God is calling you into true partnership with him.
‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him’ (Acts 10: 38). It was because Jesus was in partnership with the Holy Ghost that h could do all that he did. When God lays his hands on yours, you will begin to do what only God can do. Peter became very successful the moment he partnered with Jesus. When God’s hands touch yours, all kinds of miracles will begin to happen through you. You will cease to be ordinary. Surrender to him today and let him become your senior partner.
Besides this, you can lay hands on people in order to bless them, as Jesus blessed the children (Matt 19: 13-15). You can impart something precious to another person, as Moses imparted wisdom into Joshua (Deut 34:9). Laying hands can provide strength, succour an supply. In 1 Kings 18: 45-46, when God laid hands on Elijah, he outran Ahab’s chariot. When God lays hands on you, your weakness will suddenly give way to strength. It also brings inspiration on singers, as in the case of Elisha (2 Kgs 3: 14-20). It brings healing and recovery (Mark 16: 17:18). It demonstrates God’s compassion (Matt 8:1-3) and can also commission or ordain ministers, as in Acts 13:1-3. ask God to lay his hands on you today. Tell him how helpless and weak you are without him. Tell him how much you need him today!
ACTION POINT
Evil spirits can also be transferred through the laying on of hands.
be mindful of who you allow to lay hands on you.

How to change your Operating system

  • How to Format a Vista Operating System
    With Windows XP

    ·  alifu, eHow Contributor, last updated June 30, 2012

    ·  When Windows Vista first arrived, it was not compartible with a lot of devices & softwares. This was because manufacturers had not created new or properly-operating device drivers for Vista, so some components and peripherals were simply not recognized. Vista also has higher system requirements than Windows XP and may not run smoothly on your computer. If this is the case, you can "downgrade" from Vista to XP. The best method to use is to format your hard drive and install Windows XP.

  • Instructions

  • Obtain your Windows XP product key. If you bought the retail version of XP, the product key is on a sticker in the folder that contains the installation CD. If you have the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version of XP, its product key sticker will be on the side or rear of the computer case. The OEM version commonly comes installed on pre-built computers from manufacturers such as Dell and HP.
  • If you purchased an OEM version at a store, the product key will be on a card that came with the CD's packaging. If you cannot locate your product key, your only legal choice is to purchase another copy of Windows XP. Most retail stores no longer sell XP, but you can obtain it from online stores such as Amazon.com or Newegg.com
  • Set your computer to boot from a CD. By default, your computer will boot the hard drive that contains an operating system. Therefore, you must enter the motherboard's BIOS (Basic Input-Output System) settings and change this behavior. When you start the computer, it should list the key on your keyboard that you need to press to access the BIOS. This key varies by manufacturers, but common choices are the "F2" and "Delete" keys. "Delete" may be abbreviated as "Del" on your keyboard.
  • A motherboard's settings menus also vary by manufacturer, so you must refer to their documentation to set the computer to check your CD/DVD drive for bootable media. Once you have saved your settings and exited the BIOS, the computer will restart. You may be prompted to press a key to access the CD in the drive. If you do not press a key, the computer will boot the hard drive as normal. NOTE: You should have it in mind that the CD/DVD Drive is your First booting device that will aid you to install the Operating system.
  • Access the Windows XP installer by pressing a key when prompted by your computer. After a brief loading process, you will be shown the first setup menu. Press the "Enter" key, then "F8." Press "Enter" again to format the pre-selected section of the hard drive containing Windows Vista. Format it using NTFS (unless you have devices or software that require FAT32 instead of NTFS), preferably the "Quick" method. The installer will now format the drive and begin installing XP. Follow the on-screen prompts as they come up, one of which includes entering the product key. The installation process should take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your computer's speed.
